Snowstorm - WCM Update

February 22, 2026

The Mayor's office has issued an emergency executive order banning nonessential travel in New York City tomorrow, Monday, February 23, due to the severity of blizzard conditions that will begin this evening and intensify overnight. You can read the full order with exemptions here: https://www.nyc.gov/mayors-office/news/2026/02/emergency-executive-order-no--3.

MTA has also announced proactive service suspension on Long Island Rail Road starting 1:00 AM Monday, and additional service updates due to the extreme conditions. LIRR will temporarily suspend all service beginning 1:00 AM Monday and resume when weather conditions permit.

What This Means for You

All nonessential staff who can work from home tomorrow, should do so. Please communicate with your manager. This travel ban is in effect to keep people safe during dangerous conditions, and we want to support that effort.

For Essential and Clinical Staff

If you are providing direct patient care or supporting critical and facility-related operations that must be onsite, you are considered essential personnel and may travel to work.

However, given the extreme conditions expected overnight and into Monday, we ask that you:

  • Confirm with your manager before heading in - Use mass transit if at all possible to help keep vehicles off the streets and support city snow removal efforts
  • Carry your WCM ID/badge
  • Allow significant extra travel time
  • Monitor conditions continuously and use your best judgment about safety
  • Stay in close contact with your team throughout the day
